Jacques and Sonja Hartzenberg have turned this old farm which nestles in the foothills of the Sneeuberg into a world-class private game reserve. They have been in the tourism industry since 1996 and are busy re-stocking their land with White- and Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Sable Antelope, Roan, Giraffe, Cape Mountain Zebra to mention a few.
Bird lovers will love to know that the Black Eagle can be found here to. Bring your binoculars along to observe many other fascinating bush creatures.
They provide luxury 4-star accommodation -each of the en-suite bedrooms is air conditioned and individually decorated. Log fires and under floor heating warm up cold Karoo nights, and there’s also a sparkling pool for those hot summers.
Guests can enjoy superb South African wines served with gourmet meals, Karoo Lamb and Venison catered by their professional chef.
Perfect for special functions, some of their rooms have private patios to take in the exquisite views.

Wheatlands Country Lodge is a manor house that was designed by Charles Bridgeman, and is a mixture of Cape Dutch and Edwardian styles. It is a beautiful homestead on a working wool and mohair farm.

On entering, guests will be transported back to another era as antique furniture, persian carpets and plenty of bookcases make one think of men of old relaxing with a glass of wine and a cigar. In fact there is a comfy guest lounge with TV and log fires for winter.
Diana Short, the hostess of this wonderful farm, cooks the most divine meals, and her table groans with true Karoo delights – Karoo lamb of course with crisp homegrown vegetables.
If you live in the city, you have to try Wheatlands …. they also have some excellent hikes through the surrounding mountains.
For the time of your life, contact Wheatlands …. and wave the city goodbye.

Annemarie and Hubri have created a haven in a quiet part of Graaff-Reinet where guests can enjoy comfort and relaxation for their tired souls.
Their facilities include 4 rooms with private entrances and en-suite bathrooms, and their family units also have private entrances and offer tea and coffee facilities and home baked rusks. The suites lead out onto a veranda where guests can enjoy a welcome drink while being serenaded by the variety of birds.
Their lovely garden joins onto a nature reserve and lucky guests might well catch a glimpse of a Kudu wandering close to the garden.
Braai facilities are available and there is a shimmering pool to cool off in on hot Karoo days. A play area for childen under the oak tree keeps them busy, and particularly city children love to feed the carp in the dam.
Most of Graaff Reinets tourist attractions are within walking distance of the premises.
